Music Lessons

Skills

Have you

learnt at

school?

Often students begin private music lessons so that they can rapidly improve their technique and learn many more songs. As orchestra songs get harder students often need more help. They may have been having lessons at school for some time and would like to improve even more. During lessons students receive immediate direct feedback. Teacher expectations and parent expectations are high.

Older students often learn the cello because they missed out when they were young, love to make music and finally have the time or would like a project for fun. You're never too old to begin! Students who begin at an older age ofter learn to play with a good sound a range of popular tunes they like. Lessons for parents also benefit students as parents understand the difficulties of learning the instruments. My Mum learnt to play the cello when I started learning and it was a bit advantage for me. We used to play short duets together and is one of my fondest memories from growing up!

"My daughter Michelle has been playing the Cello for many years through her school program. We decided to get private lessons to help Michelle advance in her playing and technical abilities. Within a very short time we could hear and see a huge difference in Michelle's playing. She has become a much more confident cellist. David came highly recommended by many other parents at Michelle's school. I would highly recommend David for music lessons. He is very encouraging and made the lessons fun and interesting" Written by Paula Walsh.

Emiko Matsuzaki

I am a mature age lady and decided to learn the cello as an interest and a challenge. David has provided me with a learning programme suitable to my ability and needs. After only a few months, I am very pleased with my progress and can recommend David as a patient and talented teacher. Written by Carmel Mahaffey

Education

David Sue Yek is highly qualified: Bachelor of Music (Hons), GDTL, Masters of Education.

Music is a langauge that can be used by all to express our inner thoughts and emotions.  As a teacher I know my students better than most and that is why I have formal langauge qualifications. Many students have the added benefit of learning negotiation skills in English.

Bachelor of Music (Honours):

During this program I studied cello with a very fine cellist Markus Stocker. During my learning of the instrument as a youngster I have also had lessons with Richard Newell, Tess-Remy Schumacher, Louis Tomlin, Daniel Holloway, Mei-Lee Stocker as well as Anner Bylsma and Reinhard Latzko.
